To create a new target, see [Create a target](https://portal.us.document360.io/2837c190-3ec8-4120-9116-6d427e774667/document/v1/view/f78a9136-6122-40b5-9e7b-d0443487f1cd). > [!NOTE] > Note: > > Target-based formula metrics cannot be used in custom charts. ## Update a target Update a target when quota values or team members change. You can update all records at once by uploading a revised CSV, or update a single record directly in Gong. ### Update with a CSV Upload a revised CSV when you need to update many records at once or work from a spreadsheet. **To update records in a CSV:** 1. From the left sidebar, click **Admin center**. 2. Under the **Data Studio** card, click **Targets**. 3. Find the target, click the **More actions** icon, and select **Edit target**. 4. Upload a revised CSV using **Upsert target CSV**. This adds new records and updates existing ones. It does not remove records not in the file. 5. Click **Save**. > [!TIP] > Tip: > > Keep a saved copy of your previous CSVs before uploading a new one. > [!TIP] > Tip: > > The **Is Team** column distinguishes individual contributors (**false**) from team managers (**true**). A person who manages both their own quota and a team gets two rows in the CSV — one for their individual deals and one for their team's rollup. ### Update a single record Edit a record directly when you need to change the value for one person or one period. **To update a single record:** 1. From the left sidebar, click **Admin center**. 2. Under the **Data Studio** card, and then click **Targets**. 3. Find the target, click the **More actions** icon, and select **Edit target**. 4. Click the pencil icon on the row you want to update, enter the new value, and click **Save**. ## Export target records Export a target as a CSV file to review current values or prepare an updated upload. **To export target records:** 1. From the left sidebar, click **Admin center**. 2. Under the **Data Studio** card, and then click **Targets**. 3. Find the target, click the **More actions** icon, and select **Export to CSV**. ## Delete a target Delete a target when it is no longer needed. Deletion is permanent. Before deleting, check the Used in column to see which widgets, formula metrics, and forecast board columns currently reference the target. **To delete a target:** 1. From the left sidebar, click **Admin center**. 2. Under the **Data Studio** card, and then click **Targets**. 3. Find the target, click the **More actions** icon, and select **Delete target**. 4. Confirm the deletion when prompted. ## Frequently asked questions ****What happens to existing target records when I upload a revised CSV?**** The Upsert CSV action adds new records and updates matching existing ones. Records not included in the new file remain unchanged and are not removed. ****Can I undo a target deletion?**** No. Deleted targets cannot be recovered. ****When should I update records with a CSV versus editing a single record?**** Use a CSV upsert when you need to update values for multiple team members at once, for example, at the start of a new quarter when targets change across the team. Edit a single record directly when only one person's value needs changing. A team member who manages the business entities in Gong, such as deal and forecast boards.
