# How to manage settings for AI Translator

> **Who can use this**: Tech admin
>
> **Available on**: Gong Foundation

AI Translator helps teams work across languages by automatically translating transcripts and AI-generated content into a preferred language. Admins can set a default translation language for workspaces and team members, while individual team members can set their own preferences.

### Workspace settings

Settings at the workspace level control the default translation language for a specific workspace, including AI content like briefs, suggested playbook notes, and the language for AI-generated summaries that are exported to the CRM. It doesn’t affect the translation language for call transcripts and call briefs, which is set at the team or team member level.

To set a workspace language:

1. Go to **Admin center > Agent Studio** > **AI Translator** > **Settings**.

This brings you to the languages section of your company’s general settings page.
2. Under **Languages**, select the preferred translation language for each workspace.
3. Click **Update** to save settings.

Team members can choose a different language on-demand for specific transcripts, briefs and AI-suggested playbook notes.

### Team member settings (by admin)

Settings at the team or team member level control the default translation language for call transcripts and AI-generated content such as briefs, and suggested playbook notes.

1. Go to **Admin center** > **Settings > Team members** and select the team or team members you want to update.
2. Under **Languages**, select the preferred translation language for the AI Translator.
3. Click **Save changes** to save settings.

Team members can choose a different language on-demand for specific transcripts and briefs.

### Team member settings (by individual)

Team members can set their own default translation language for call transcripts and AI-generated content such as briefs, and suggested playbook notes.

1. Go to your username > **My Profile > Languages**.
2. Under **AI Translator**, choose the preferred translation language.
3. Click **Save changes** to save settings.

### Considerations

The most recent setting always applies. If a team member sets a language and an admin updates it later, the admin’s setting applies. If the team member changes it again, their setting applies.

### On-demand translations

Regardless of AI Translator settings, team members can always translate the content they see on-demand.

## FAQs

**Do AI Translator language settings affect the language of answers in Ask Anything?**

No, not at all. Ask Anything responses are always in the language that the question was asked, regardless of AI Translator settings.
