# Create a target column

Target columns are read-only columns that display your predefined targets. You can always include targets as a supportive data point in [metric](/v1/docs/create-a-metric-column) or [forecast submission](/v1/docs/create-a-submission-column) columns, but a target column allows you to display them independently.

To add a target column:

1. Click **New column** > **Target**.

2. Give the column a name (ex: “Booking target”) and a description.
3. Select a target to display. Click **Manage targets** and [create it](/v1/docs/managing-targets-1) if you can’t find the target you need:

4. Under **Customize display**, see how a single cell in the column appears on the board.

5. Save the column.
6. Rearrange columns by drag and drop:
