Instead of running the same search every week, you define a set of filters once and the stream keeps itself current, and every matching call appears automatically as it comes in. You can also set up notifications so your team is alerted when new calls arrive. ## Step 1: Name the stream and choose a location Give the stream a name that describes what it collects, so team members can understand it at a glance. Choose whether the stream lives in Your library (private to you) or in Company library (visible to everyone). **To open the Create stream form:** 1. From the left sidebar, click **Conversations**, and select **Your library** or **Company library**. 2. Click **+ New** and select **Stream**. 3. Enter a name in the **Stream name** field. 4. Click the **Library location** field and select where the stream should live. > [!NOTE] > Note: > > You can also create a stream from the Search page. Apply at least one filter, then click **Create stream**. Your search filters are pre-populated in the stream form. ## Step 2: Add filters Filters define which calls the stream collects. At least one filter is required. The stream updates automatically whenever a new call matches your criteria. **To add filters:** 1. In the **Filters** section, click **+ Add filters**. The filter editor opens. 2. In the filter editor, add the criteria you want to use. You can filter by participants, account name, words or phrases, trackers, call title, and more. 3. As you add filters, the right panel previews the calls that currently match your criteria. 4. When your filters are set, click **Save**. > [!NOTE] > Note: > > If you use an AI tracker as a filter and that tracker is inactive or your company has insufficient credits, matching calls will not be collected. ## Step 3: Choose a brief type The brief type determines which call summary appears in the stream and in notifications. Gong provides several types, and Gong-provided briefs are marked with a Gong label in the dropdown. **To set the brief type:** 1. In the **Brief** section, click the dropdown. 2. Select a brief type. **Highlights** is the default and works well for most teams. ## Step 4: Set up notifications (optional) Notifications alert you or your team when new calls match the stream. You can send notifications to a Microsoft Teams channel, a Slack channel, or by email. ### Microsoft Teams **To send notifications to a Microsoft Teams channel:** 1. Click the **Select a team** dropdown and select a team. > [!NOTE] > Note: > > Microsoft Teams notifications require the Gong notifications app to be configured in your Teams workspace. If Teams channels are not appearing, contact your admin. ### Slack **To send notifications to a Slack channel:** 1. Click the **Select Slack channel** dropdown and select a channel. > [!NOTE] > Note: > > Slack notifications require your company to be connected to Slack and the stream type to be set to Standard (see Step 5). For private Slack channels, add the Gong app to the channel first. ### Email Use the **Share and set email notifications** section to subscribe yourself and others to email digests when new calls come in. **To set up email notifications:** 1. Use the **Add email subscribers** to enable email notifications for yourself and for others on your team. 2. Select the cadence for each team member beside their name. Choose from weekly, daily, or immediate. ## Step 5: Choose the stream type Stream type controls whose calls each subscriber sees. **To choose a stream type:** 1. Select an option: - **Standard:** All calls that match the filters are shown to everyone viewing the stream. Required for Slack notifications. - **Personalized:** Each subscriber sees only calls from their own conversations or their teammates' conversations. When you’ve completed the stream settings, save the stream. If you created it from a library, click **Create stream**. If you created it from the Search page, click **Save**. ## Frequently asked questions **Can I edit a stream's filters after creating it?** Yes.
