# Create a rule to delete calls

Create a rule to delete certain calls. When the rule is triggered, Gong will automatically delete calls that match the rule’s filter. The rule isn’t applied to existing calls. **Deleted calls can’t be retrieved.**

> Note:
> 
> Speech-to-text conversions can be inaccurate, so calls that shouldn’t be deleted may be deleted, and vice versa.

1. In the **Automation rules** page, click **+ Add rule** and then click ![image11.png](https://cdn.us.document360.io/2837c190-3ec8-4120-9116-6d427e774667/Images/Documentation/24883342984461.png) to choose which types of call will trigger this rule. Click save.
2. In the **Action** field, select **Delete calls**as the action that occurs when calls that match these filters occur.
3. In the **Rule name and description** area, enter the rule name and add a description.
4. In the **Rule status** area, change the status to **Enabled**.
5. Click **SAVE**.
