Changes that cause task and event updates

Prev Next

Gong synchronizes data with Salesforce to keep tasks up to date. Tasks are updated for a variety of reasons, following both changes initiated by the user, for example, changing the time of a meeting, and changes following system driven updates, such as adding the call summary to a task.

Activity updates

Updates occur when new context or information becomes available about an activity.

  • The timestamp of a task or event for all types of Gong activities may be updated even when the data that changed in Gong isn’t exported to Salesforce.

  • New data is exported. For example, if a new account is added to the CRM, and there is an existing call with that account.

  • Changes to meeting invites including:

    • Schedule modifications

    • Meeting cancellations

    • Adding or removing participants

  • Changes to Engage data including:

    • Contacts or leads who are part of a flow and move to the next step

    • Contact or lead flow status change

    • Summary changes

    • Edits to Engage notes

Association updates

Association updates occur when Gong changes the CRM entities associated with a task or event. For example, changing the account the task or event is associated with.

  • New contact added to CRM who was a participant in an existing activity. The task is updated with the new contact.

  • Reassignment of tasks.

  • Updates to record associations.

  • Modified CRM record locations.

Updates due to manual changes

Actions taken by team members may cause the task or event to be updated including:

  • Editing CRM fields directly in Gong

  • Flow links

    • Workflow-triggered updates

    • Process automation changes

  • API integration

    • Custom integration updates

    • Third-party system synchronization
